Available as an XL Van, XLT Van, XL Wagon, or XLT Wagon, the Transit Connect is powered by a 136-hp 2.0L Duratec I-4 engine that delivers up to 128 pounds of torque. It manages to be both high-performance and fuel efficient, however, due to the 4-speed automatic overdrive transaxle and the smooth, economical sequential multiport fuel injection. Working together, they give it best-in-class fuel economy of an EPA-estimated 22 city/25 hwy mpg, the fuel efficiency of a large car as opposed to the low mileage of most ordinary vans. In addition, the 15.4-gallon fuel tank gives it highway range of more than 375 miles, making constant fill-ups a thing of the past.

The Transit Connect was built for city use, which is obvious in its design and its handling. Its low 6-foot 8-inch height lets it maneuver through low-clearance areas like parking garages without worry, while it takes on tight corners with ease with its impressive 39-foot curb-to-curb turning radius. The fact that it weighs only 3,470 pounds, almost 1,500 pounds less than a regular full-size van, also gives it the freedom to nimbly navigate through cramped city streets on its 15-inch steel wheels. Accessing your cargo has never been easier or safer, either, thanks to the dual-sliding side doors that allow you to unload cargo from either side, keeping you out of the flow of traffic. You even have plenty of space on the large exterior panels to put your logo, business graphics, phone numbers, whatever you may require.

For a van, the ability to haul cargo is everything, which is why Ford has taken such great pains to make sure that the Transit Connect puts the "cargo" in "cargo van". No longer have to worry about fitting cargo through the back doors: the 50/50 split rear doors swing out 180 degrees, or you can choose the available doors that open an incredible 255 degrees for even more loading space. Along with being able to haul up to 1,600 pounds, the cargo area has over 135 cubic feet of space in it and can fit items up to 4-feet 11-inches tall, 6 feet long, and 4-feet 11-inches wide. Customize the storage area however you see fit with a Cargo Management System that lets you add drawers, ladder racks, dividers, storage cabinets, and more. And with side and rear floor heights less than 2 feet tall, loading and unloading cargo is a breeze.

Even the cabin of the Transit Connect is built for storage and space. Door pockets, a center console with two large cupholders and twin storage bins, a front overhead storage shelf with retaining net, and even a dash-top compartment maximize the storage that is available in the cabin. Plus, it even sits up to 5 passengers while still retaining up to 78 cubic feet of cargo space behind the second-row seats, with up to 118 cubic feet available if the second-row seats are stowed.

The Transit Connect comes with many premium features as well. Along with more standard features like the tilting and telescoping steering wheel, standard air conditioning system, six-way driver and four way passenger manually adjustable reclining seats, and the AM/FM stereo with single-disc CD player complete with audio input jack (standard on XLT models), it comes with front airbags and front-seat side airbags, a Tire Pressure Monitoring System, AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control (standard on XL and XLT Wagon), Lock and Latch shielded door locks to help prevent break-ins, and a reverse sensing system that emits a clear signal to alert you of anything in your way as far as up to 6 feet away from the rear.

With Bluetooth capability, push-to-talk voice recognition, user phonebooks access, text message receiving ability, and a wireless keyboard and available wireless inkjet printer, it allows you to access the Internet, generate work orders, locate your destination, and much more. Aiding you in your work is the available Crew Chief and available Tool Kit programs. Get continuous access to vehicle location information with Crew Chief, along with vehicle performance tracking ability and vehicle maintenance notifications, while Tool Link lets you use RFID (radio frequency identification) technology in order to organize, scan, and track your tools, inventory, and other cargo items. Essentially, Ford Works Solutions lets you run your business while you're away from the office, which helps you be more productive and more importantly, profitable.
